Collection to aid Central, Eastern Europe

Your attention is called to the Collection to Aid the Catholic Church in Central and Eastern Europe to be taken up on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 25, for the redevelopment of the church in Eastern Europe. said Bishop Martin Amos.

Because of the continued need of the Catholic Church in Central and Eastern Europe, the bishops of the United States asked us to again extend the opportunity for the people of the United States to aid them.

The theme for the 2009 collection for the church in Central and Eastern Europe, “Believe in the power of the Spirit of Love,” speaks of the rich past, encouraging present and promising future of the church in this region.

Through this collection and with a love that brings radiant light, Catholics in the United States help the Catholic Church in Central and Eastern Europe to build parishes in many distant, unknown places. Your generous donations support seminaries, social service programs, youth ministry, pastoral centers, schools, church construction and renovation and the spreading of the Gospel message through the mass media. Please visit www.usccb.org/nationalcollections to see full accounts of your gifts at work.
