People enjoy a religious education fundraising breakfast after Mass Feb. 1 at St. Joseph Hall in East Pleasant Plain.

Feb. 1 was “super Sunday” for Ss. Joseph and Cabrini Parish in Richland and East Pleasant Plain even before the Super Bowl game started.

Parishioners came early that day to St. Joseph Hall in East Pleasant Plain to enjoy pancakes, sausage, egg casserole, fruit and more as part of a fundraiser for the parish’s religious education program. More than $1,200 was raised from freewill offerings at the breakfast, which youths helped organize.

That afternoon, the Family Life Committee hosted a mini marriage-enrichment retreat at St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Parish Center in Richland. Eighteen couples who’d been married up to 60 years participated in the “Love of Your Life” workshop, facilitated by IlaMae Hanisch, adult and family formation/lay ministry coordinator for the Davenport Diocese. Couples learned skills to enhance their marriages, dialogued, reviewed current resources and explored prayer’s power in marital life.

Later, couples enjoyed a dinner of pork chops grilled by Mike Adrian and Steve Greiner. Also serving on the Family Life Committee were Garry and Suanne Dickey, Donna Greiner and Shirley Van Dee.
