The athletics at St. Joe’s this year have been very rewarding for student athletes. We started this year with girls’ basketball. The sixth-grade squad had a great learning year with Coach Scott Meland. They put their learning to good use by winning the end-of-the-year tournament.

The seventh-grade team had another learning year and put forth a great effort in every game with coaches Jennifer Keitel, Nicole Green and Katie Dorphinghaus. The eighth-grade team had an up-and-down year, but came home with the sportsmanship trophy. Leading were coaches Cary Arensdorf and Jim Laures.

After an exciting basketball season, the girls took to the volleyball court. The sixth-grade squad had a great learning season with coaches Peggy Kuehn and Corrin Blandin. The seventh-grade team had a great season with Coach Abby Peterzalek. Audrey Machovec and Julia Youmans coached the eighth-grade team as it continued to make strides at a rewarding season.

After the girls’ season, the boys took to the hardwood. The sixth-grade coach is Dan Burke. Team members are currently undefeated.  In seventh grade, Steve Frett and Kim Wright have guided the boys to a winning record. In eighth grade, Coach Tony Foxen has helped his club to a 4-1 record.
