Talks on spirituality of the body

IOWA CITY — A Scholars Discussion Series, “Our Bodies. Our Spirituality,” will take place at the Newman Catholic Student Center from Feb. 22 to March 8. At noon Feb. 22, Theresa Parsons, a nursing student and Newman Scholar, will speak on “God’s design for the human experience: love understood in body, mind and soul.” Then, at 12:45 p.m., Neil Sink, a medical student and Newman Scholar, will present, “Introducing the human person: a Thomastic perspective of human nature in body, mind, and soul.”

On March 1 at noon, Parsons will discuss “The chaste life: God’s design for the human sexual experience.” Also on March 1, at 12:45 p.m., Sink will apply St. Thomas Aquinas to the understanding of eating disorders.

On March 8 at noon, Parsons will present “Intimacy in Relationships: Living out true, pure love.” At 12:45 p.m., Sink will present “Spirit in practice: Promoting spirituality within medical practice.”
