Grant expands preschool opportunities

Preschoolers take a break during a nature hike.

St. James Preschool was part of a consortium of Washington area preschools awarded funding in June 2008 through the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program for Four Year Old Children.

The grant, written in collaboration with the public school, provides preschool programming without charge to eligible 4-year-olds.

St. James Preschool has been able to conduct business as usual while implementing several new features to its existing program. A second teacher, Kerri Hall, joined veteran teacher Monika Chalupa in delivering “The Creative Curriculum for Preschool” and participating in a broad range of professional development opportunities.

The opportunities for students and staff made possible through this grant have enhanced the preschool program and benefited St. James’ youngest learners!
