Sr. Mary Florentia Koelsch dies

Sister Mary Florentia Koelsch, SSND, who taught at Aquinas High School in Fort Madison, died Feb. 5 at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton, Mo. Her funeral was Feb. 9.

Sr. Koelsch was born in 1920 in Effingham, Ill., and professed her first vows with the School Sisters of Notre Dame, St. Louis Province, in 1940. She professed final vows in 1946.

For 52 years she taught high school students, including during the 1960s and ‘70s at the former Aquinas High School.
