Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

As part of the global church, we are called to minister to our brothers and sisters throughout the world. We make an effort to assist our neighbors in Central and South America in a particular way through our annual collection for the Diocesan Volunteers and Latin America.

One of the programs funded by this collection is the Davenport Diocesan Volunteer Program, celebrating its 48th year of service. Msgr. W. Robert Schmidt serves as the director and Dr. Alan Hathaway as associate director of this program.

Over these many years, lay and religious volunteers have answered the Gospel call to give generously of their time, talents and treasures in part- or full-time missionary work. Your generous financial support makes this possible.

If you are interested in volunteering, you are encouraged to contact Msgr. Schmidt at (563) 355-0338.

The church in Central and South America continues to have great basic human needs which the wonderful work of this program helps to meet.  On the weekend of May 2-3, please be generous to the Diocesan Volunteers and Latin America appeal.

Yours in Christ,

Most Rev. Martin Amos

Bishop of Davenport
