Students rehearse for “West Side Story,” performed April 3-5 at Assumption High School.

The Assumption Knight Players recently gave five outstanding performances of the musical classic West Side Story at Sunderbruch Auditorium. AHS Drama Director Leslie LaCorte led the production, which featured the talents of 42 aspiring actors and actresses, a 19-member pit orchestra and a technical crew of 18.

In addition to the three performances that are customarily open to the general public, the AHS theatre troupe performed their dress rehearsal in front of an audience of fifth- and eighth-grade Catholic school students and hosted an afternoon performance for guests from local nursing homes and the Handicapped Development Center in Davenport.

Total attendance for the week was estimated at more than 1,500 people.
