Support health care for all Americans

Why does America need full-coverage health care that is affordable, covers pre-existing conditions and top-quality medical care?

Not because 18,000 Americans die every year because they have no health insurance, not because 62 percent of bankruptcies are caused because people have no health insurance, not because 45 million Americans have no health insurance.

Let us look at this a different way: a rich man watched Lazarus beg for bread while dogs licked his sores every day. This rich man died and was carried to hell where he was tormented every day. Lazarus died and was carried to heaven.

A scholar asked Jesus: “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus told him to love the Lord and his neighbor as he loves himself. The scholar asked, “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus told him a story of a man on the road to Jericho who was robbed, beaten and left for dead. A priest and a member of the church of the day saw the man and went on the opposite side of the road. A Good Samaritan took the man, cared for his wounds and took him to an innkeeper whom he paid for the injured man’s care. “Who was the good neighbor?” Jesus asked.

The rich man asked Jesus to send someone to tell his brothers so that they wouldn’t end up in hell with him. I would ask you to make a choice: Will it be heaven or hell? Today I call upon you to call and write your senators. Tell them to give all Americans health insurance.
