LITURGY/PRAYER

Bettendorf — An introductory Centering Prayer workshop will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1506 Brown St., Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bob and Joan Timmons will present. Davenport — The Sisters of Humility invite the general public to pray with them at 11:40 a.m. Wednesdays during a special Mass for peace. It will be celebrated in the Magnificat Chapel at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave.

Iowa City — People meet to pray the rosary and receive Communion at 1 p.m. Wednesdays at Melrose Meadows Retirement Community. All Catholics are welcome.

Iowa City — Centering Prayer groups meet from 7-8 p.m. Mondays at the Mercy Hospital chapel, and from 9-11:30 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month at a member’s home. For more information, call Maureen Kelley at (319) 338-8284.

Melrose — The Knights of Columbus of Albia sponsor a 24-hour adoration the first Friday of the month at St. Patrick Church in Melrose. MEETINGS

Davenport — A Catholic Single Mothers Support Group invites new members for prayer and discussion on positive parenting and balancing life’s demands. Mothers will meet and hear a different speaker monthly in an informal setting. To take part, call Joan at (563) 323-0175.

Davenport — A group meets for Ignatian Lightworks exercises on Mondays from 7-8:30 p.m. and Tuesdays from 1-2:30 p.m. at 2803 McKinley Ave. For more information, call (563) 324-7263.

Burlington — Notre Dame schools are selling tickets for their 12th annual Pot O’ Blue and Gold Raffle. More than $150,000, including a $100,000 grand prize, will be awarded Aug. 8. Camanche — Church of the Visitation will host a corn boil Aug. 9 from 3-7:30 p.m. Cost is $6 per adult, $3 per child age 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. Menu includes corn on the cob, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, potato salad, beans, dessert and beverages.

Charlotte — Assumption  & St. Patrick Parish is hosting a beef and pork dinner with all the trimmings, including a beverage and dessert, on Sunday, Aug. 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The event will be held at the Millennium Ballroom in Goose Lake. Carryouts also available. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children 3 and younger. There will also be a gift basket silent auction, children’s games, bingo and a country store. The Charlotte German Band will play at 1:30 p.m.

Davenport — The 2009 Father Ken Martin Golf Outing and Dinner will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Emeis Golf Course and the Davenport Elk’s Club. LeClaire — The Msgr. Leo J. Feeney assembly of the Knights of Columbus will have its annnual Msgr. Leo J. Feeney/Fr. Bader steak fry  Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the River Church.  The event is $10 for assembly members. Reservations should be made to Tim Tisinger at (563) 332-8261.
