Sister Thomasine Muller, (Sister Mary Thomasine), 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center, Johnston. Visitation will be at the Humility of Mary Center, Magnificat Chapel, 820 W. Central Park Ave. in Davenport on Sunday, Aug. 23 from 4-7 p.m. with a rosary at 4 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at the center. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport is  assisting with arrangements. 

Geraldine Mae Muller was born May 4, 1920, in Waterloo, a daughter of Francis J. and Marie V. (Parsons) Muller.  She entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary on Sept. 8, 1943, and professed vows July 17, 1946.  She attended Ottumwa Heights College, Ottumwa, before beginning her ministry of providing supportive services for priests at Dowling High School in Des Moines. Other places she served include St. Theresa’s in Des Moines, All Saints, Stuart, and St. Mary, Marshalltown, and Sacred Heart, Glendive, Mont.  Sr. Muller was kind to all, but especially to those at the margins of society.  She cared for children at the Christ Child Home in Des Moines and for 10 years in West Des Moines. She retired in Des Moines in 1988 and moved to Bishop Drumm Center in 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Carl Van Schoyck and brother, Donald. She is survived by a sister, Maxine (Robert) Beener of  Cedar Falls;  nephews Michael (Chris) Beener, Cedar Falls, Thomas Beener, Carlsbad, Calif., and Danny (Bridgett) Stevens, Hurst, Texas; a niece, Cheryle Shook, Waterloo; and an extended family. She is also survived by her Sisters in community.
