Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Jennifer J. Darrow, 35, a resident of Chicago and a former resident of Rock Island, Ill. will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 417 Main St., downtown Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport. There will be a prayer service offered Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home that all are invited to attend.

Jennifer died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 5, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts.

Jennifer J. Darrow was born Oct. 31, 1973 in Rock Island, Ill., a daughter of Clarence A. and Lili B. (Ruja) Darrow. Jennifer graduated from Alleman High School, Rock Island. She received a Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, from Loyola University, Chicago, Ill.. While at Loyola she was a member of both the cross country and track teams, earning All-Conference honor six times. She was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Nu. She continued her pursuit of educational excellence and received a Master of Arts in Psychology, Summa Cum Laude, from National-Louis University, Wheaton, Ill. and a Master’s of Education, Summa Cum Laude, from Loyola University School of Education, Chicago.

Jennifer had been a high school anatomy and physiology teacher at Hinsdale South High School, Darien, Ill. for the last nine years. She had also served as an adjunct professor in health psychology at National-Louis University, Wheaton, Ill. She was listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.

Survivors include her parents, Clarence and Lili Darrow, Rock Island, siblings and their spouses, Elizabeth and Tom Carroll, Davenport; John and Jodi Darrow, Clarendon Hills, Ill.; Antoinette “Toni” and Joe Talanges, Warwick, England; and Clarence “Mike” and Sara Darrow, Rock Island, Ill.; a great uncle and great aunt, Albert and Eileen Grigals, Bettendorf, Iowa; loving nieces and nephews, Carrie (Adam) Seyb, Cassandra and Courtney Johnson; Jack, Jimmy, and Caroline Darrow, Thomas, Helena, Mary, and John Michael Talanges; Connor, Lilia, Augie, Anna Grace, Ella, and Danny Darrow; an uncle and aunt, Bruce and Mary (Darrow) Strong, Naperville, Ill. and cousins.
