Noreen Sink

Noreen Agnes Sink, 84, of Burlington, died at 9:35 AM Thursday, October 15, 2009, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

 Born January 3, 1925, in Des Moines, IA, she was the daughter of Henry Edwin and Louise Weiss Boyle. On November 23, 1963, she married Carl Melvin  Sink in Burlington. He died April 14, 1989.

 Noreen worked at Woolworth’s for 13 years and at OSF St. Francis Care Center for 18 years as a cook.

 She was a 1944 graduate of St. Paul’s Catholic High School.

 She was a member of SS. John the Baptist Catholic Church and St. Francis Auxillary.  She collected lighthouses and coffee cups, enjoyed Laurence Welk music, old movies, arts and crafts, and embroidery.  She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 Survivors include one step-son, David Sink of Portland, OR; 3 step-daughters, Martha Dexter of Florida, Jane Mellinger of Burlington, Mary Ann Wiegand of Davenport, IA; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Beckman of Burlington, and Theresa Williams of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.

 Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, and one infant son, Henry Roy.

 Visitation will be from noon until 5:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 4:00 PM Rosary Service until 5:00 PM Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Sink will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Father Bruce A. DeRammelaere as the celebant.  Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir.  Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

 The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
