(Some students from Bishop Hayes Catholic School in Muscatine share what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving:)

Dear God,

I’m thankful for my family and the love they give me, and for my friends who I love to see. Thank you for all the animals on land and in sky, the creatures that crawl, run, swim and fly. Thank you for the plants growing here, that they have water from God’s tears. Thank you for the food you give, and the water that makes us live. Thank you for the church we go to, and the praying that we quietly do. Thank you for the space you give us, and the homes we take care of. And we do all of this because, Jesus died for us!

I am thankful that God gave us older brothers and sisters. I am also thankful for the gift of grace. God made us unique and have different talents. I am thankful that God created us to care for our surroundings and the world.      I am looking forward to having Thanksgiving with my parents and my older brother. We are all thankful for what God has given us; his son Jesus the Savior was his greatest gift of all.

Peoples’ gifts are maybe the talents they have to share with one another to help someone in need. Our hands were created to make, give and share and that’s what God did; he made the Earth, he gave his son Jesus, and he shared the love and care.

Leo Galoso, fourth grade

Dear God,

Thank you for all the things you have given me: life, family, friends and many more things. Thank you for the gift of feelings, people and love. You have given me so much and so I thank you for all your gifts. Thank you for the gift of yourself. Christmas is a very special time for me because I give thanks to Mary, you and Joseph. Thanksgiving is coming up and I would like to praise and thank you for everything.
