CLINTON — Clinton Franciscan Sisters Mary Smith and Paschal Hocum will host an introduction to the practice of spiritual direction on Monday, Nov. 16, from 6:30- 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The Canticle, the home of the Sisters of St. Francis, 841 13th Ave. N., Clinton.

“Come and explore with others how spiritual direction can be an essential tool for your spiritual growth,” wrote Sr. Smith in announcing the free workshop.

Spiritual direction, she explained, “seeks to foster an individual’s personal, intimate relationship with the God who dwells in our hearts and in all creation.”

This introduction, she explained, will address the “who,” “what,” “why” and “how” of the process.

Sr. Smith and Sr. Hocum are available to meet regularly at The Canticle with persons interested in participating in spiritual direction.  Attending the free, introductory workshop does not involve making any commitment to pursue the process.

“Our workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m.,” said Sr. Smith, “but we welcome participants to join us in the chapel at 6 p.m. for evening prayer as a prelude. We will share dessert following the presentation.”

Call Sr. Smith, (563) 242-7903, ext. 1369, to reserve a place. There is no fee to attend.
