Marian Oetken

Marian K. Oetken, of Burlington, died Sunday, Nov.8, 2009, at the Blair House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.

 Born in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Henry Herman and Nellie Hurley Kampe. On July 1, 1957, she married Frank Oetken. He preceded her in death.

 Marian was an executive secretary at Leopold Company in Burlington.

 She was a graduate of Keokuk Senior High School and attended Burlington Business College.

 She was a member of Ss. John & Paul Catholic Church, Burlington. Marion was a gracious woman. Although a private person, her friends were lifelong. She had an extraordinary strength of character by which she lived her life.  She had a deep abiding faith.

 Survivors include two neices, Bonnie Gibson and Jackie Flockhart, both of Keokuk; two nephews, Jim (Susie) Flockhart of Keokuk, and Bill (Helen) Calhoun of Montrose; and several great-nieces and great-nephews including a special great-niece, Lisa Gibson of Keokuk.

 Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

 There will be no visitation.

 Graveside Committal Service and Interment for Mrs. Oetken will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Sacred Heart Cemetery with Father Father Patrick Hilgendorf officiating.

A memorial has been established to SS. John & Paul Catholic Church.

 The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
