Marjorie A. Brown, 75, of Davenport, died peacefully at her home Nov. 11, 2009, with the loving respect and admiration of her family.

Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie will be held Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 516 Fillmore St., Davenport. Private burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Visitation is today from 4-7 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport.

The family invites you to join them at 4 p.m. for a prayer service to begin the visitation. Honoring Marjorie’s wishes, cremation rites will take place following visitation. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to St. Mary’s Church or Melanoma Research.

Marjorie A Marriott was born Dec. 29, 1933, in Davenport to Chester and Marie (Kennedy) Marriott.  She was united in marriage to Edwin L. Brown on Nov. 22, 1956, at St. Mary’s in Davenport.  Marjorie was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother creating a loving home for her and Ed’s 11 children.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 56 years, Ed; and their children and spouses, Mike (Barb), Patrick (Robin), Mary (Samuel), Theresa, Sheila (Chris), Richard (Erin), Roger (Maria), Steve (Mandy), Ann Marie (Bruce), Thomas (Gisele), David (Maggie); 30 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren;  5 brothers and 1 sister.    

She is a spirit we will all carry within us. That’s where the loss ceases. And it is in each and every one of us.  If we pay attention.

Human connection is a gift she gave each of us.
