LITURGY/PRAYER

Davenport — The Sisters of Humility invite the general public to pray with them at 11:40 a.m. Wednesdays during a special Mass for peace. It will be celebrated in the Magnificat Chapel at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave.

Iowa City — People meet to pray the rosary and receive Communion at 1 p.m. Wednesdays at Melrose Meadows Retirement Community. All Catholics are welcome.

Iowa City — Centering Prayer groups meet from 7-8 p.m. Mondays at the Mercy Hospital chapel, and from 9-11:30 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month at a member’s home. For more information, call Maureen Kelley at (319) 338-8284.

Melrose — The Knights of Columbus of Albia sponsor a 24-hour adoration the first Friday of the month at St. Patrick Church in Melrose. Mass begins at 8 a.m., followed by 24 hours of adoration, and closes with benediction at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday. For more information or to sign up for an hour, call Tony Humeston at (641) 932-7709.

Bettendorf/Davenport — Grief in the Holidays, a program that focuses on caring for self, identifying priorities and memorializing loved ones, will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Vianney room at St. John Vianney Parish in Bettendorf. Camanche — Church of the Visitation, at 1028 Middle Road in Camanche, will hold its annual holiday bazaar on Sunday, Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. It will include a quilt raffle, bake sale, silent auction, holiday items and local arts and crafts. Luncheon includes homemade soups, hot sandwiches, desserts and more. The public in welcome, and there is no admission charge.

Davenport — Quad-Cities Interfaith will hold a fundraising breakfast Thursday, Nov. 19, from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the Rogalski Center at St. Ambrose University. RSVP to (563) 322-4910.  The one-hour event will showcase the group’s work locally and globally to establish justice. Guests will be asked to consider a donation and pray for the group’s success.

Davenport — St. Paul the Apostle Parish’s Altar & Rosary Holiday Bazaar will take place Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 916 E. Rusholme St. The bazaar will feature baked goods and handmade crafts and a unique gift store. A homemade soup and sandwich lunch will also be served on Saturday. Coffee and homemade cinnamon rolls  will be available after Mass on Sunday. Raffle baskets will include a cash, grocery and family fun basket. Tickets cost $2 each, $10 for six or $20 for 12.

Davenport — St. Alphonsus Parish’s Altar & Rosary Society will be hosting a craft show on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2618 Boies Ave. Cost is $25 per table for both days. Luncheon will be available for purchase.  Contact Linda Hennes at (563) 322-2298 for more information or to register.

Davenport — St. Mary Parish’s 37th annual bazaar will take place at Sixth and Fillmore streets the weekend of Nov. 14-15. Saturday the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Tickets cost $6. On Sunday, the event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., including an authentic Mexican breakfast. Tickets cost $6. A bake sale, raffle, trash and treasure, knitting items, sewing items and Christmas booth will be featured. Proceeds go to the church.

Davenport — A Theology on Tap event for young adults will take place at Phil & Larry’s Saloon, 4811 N Brady St., at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. Micah Kiel, a professor at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, will speak about the “bad girls” of the Bible. Farmington — St. Boniface Church will host a  fall feather party and bingo Nov. 15. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Bingo starts at 12:30 p.m.; play for a Thanksgiving turkey. The event also includes a raffle and door prizes. Sunday Mass is at 10:30 a.m.

Fort Madison — The Altar & Rosary Society at Holy Family Parish will host its holiday bazaar Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Roling Hall. Homemade soups, sandwiches, desserts and drinks will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Baked goods will be available. Crafts and toys will also be on sale.

Harper — The Clear Creek Heritage Association will sponsor a dance at the Knights of Columbus hall Nov. 27 from 6:30-11 p.m. Food will be served; a DJ will provide music, and families are welcome. The evening will include a raffle at 9 p.m. and silent auction. Freewill donations will be accepted.

Hills — St. Joseph Church is hosting a farmers’ market on Fridays from 4-7 p.m. Vendors may call (319) 679-2271 to reserve a space. No fee is required, but donations are appreciated.

Tipton — St. Mary Parish will host a Christmas bazaar Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Crafts, a cookie walk and food stand will be featured. Menu includes chicken noodle soup, chili, ham sandwiches and homemade pies. St. Mary’s is located at 209 Mulberry St.
