Caregiver support meetings slated

Facebooktwittermail

St. John Vianney Church in Bettendorf will begin offering monthly caregiver support meetings on the second Wednesday of the month, beginning Jan.13 from 1-2:30 p.m. These meetings aim to provide a supportive environment for people who experience similar challenges.

The meetings also aim to help participants: learn about new services, receive encouragement, hear speakers, develop new friendships, increase self-esteem, give moral support and exchange ideas and experiences.

Janet Rubelmann, a parishioner of St. John Vianney, is the support meeting facilitator. She has served as a caregiver support coordinator for St. John’s County Council on Aging in St. Augustine, Fla., where she facilitated support meetings, served as editor of the “Caregiver Connection Newsletter,” planned and coordinated a yearly caregivers’ forum and served as a speaker and panelist on caregiving issues.

She also was a caregiver for her husband and mother.
