Marvin Dale Pfeiff, 68, of Burlington, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

 Born November 29, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of Dale Henry and Cordelia J. Ibbotson Pfeiff. He was a 1960 graduate of Sperry High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He married Jeanne Marie Thomas in Burlington on Oct. 7, 1967.

 Marvin was a lifelong farmer. He also worked for the Hawkeye Group in Mediapolis for nine years. Marvin was a member of Ss. John & Paul Catholic Church in Burlington.  As a youth he was was involved in 4H, and later served as a 4H leader.  He was a member of the Mediapolis School Board, and a clerk for Flint River Township. He loved his horses, gardening, farming and especially family gatherings.

 Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; two daughters, Christine Pfeiff of West Burlington, and Teresa (Kent) Naughton of Ames; two sons, Richard (Cindy) Pfeiff of Morning Sun, and Michael (Cassandra) Pfeiff of Burlington; three grandsons, Jacob, Dustin, and Brady Pfeiff; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

 Visitation was Dec. 22, 2009 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Pfeiff was held Dec. 23, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Bruce DeRammelaere as the celebrant. Music was provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Ss. John & Paul Catholic Church and the Des Moines County Fair.

 Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
