Poem on St. Catherine reminds of bygone era

Lisa Powell’s article brought to mind a poem I learned at my convent school, St. Mary’s Academy, in Milwaukee in the 1950s:

St. Catherine, St. Catherine, oh lend me thine aid,

And grant that I never shall be an old maid,

A husband, St. Catherine!

epay

A good one, St. Catherine!

But anyone’s better than no one, St. Catherine!

A reminder of a vanished era…..
