FISH FRIES

LeClaire — Knights of Columbus Council 13084 will host a fish fry on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17, after the 6 p.m. Mass at Our Lady of the River Parish. Menu includes fried and baked fish, shrimp jambalaya, French fries, baked potato, onion rings, coleslaw, cornbread, punch, pop and desserts.

Oskaloosa — Knights of Columbus will hold a fish fry at St. Mary Parish Center Feb. 17 after 6 p.m. Mass. Freewill donations will go to Catholic Relief Services to benefit Haiti.

Davenport — A healing Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 18, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 10th and Iowa streets. Confessions begin at 6 p.m.; praise music at 6:40 p.m. and Mass at 7:15 p.m. All are welcome. For more information, call (563) 324-3257.

MEETINGS

Wilton — St. Mary Parish is hosting GriefShare sessions on Sundays from 6:30-8 p.m. at the church. The series, sponsored by the Durant-Wilton Ministerial Association, is a weekly seminar/support group for people grieving the death of someone close. People may participate in any sessions they choose. RETREATS

Clinton —  Prince of Peace Parish will host its 13th annual Christian Experience Weekend on Feb. 19-21 for women and March 5-7 for men at Prince of Peace Academy and College Preparatory. The weekends begin Friday at 8 p.m. and end Sunday at 5 p.m. Cost is $35. A $10 deposit is required at sign-up. Call Cathy Eggers at (563) 357-9829 with questions or for a registration form. 

Coralville — A Lenten mini-retreat, “Stand-up Christianity: Humor and the Bible,” will take place Saturday, Feb. 20, from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3000 12th Ave.The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Davenport — The Christian Service Committee of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Davenport is sponsoring a one-day ecumenical renewal for adults with disabilities and their family and friends. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church’s Parish Center, 4105 North Division St. The cost is $15, which includes lunch. Keota — A Christ in Others Retreat will take place March 26-28 at Holy Trinity Parish Center. The retreat is for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors and is a weekend of reflection about family and relationships. Davenport — A Theology on Tap event for young adults will take place at Phil & Larry’s Saloon, 4811 N. Brady St., at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11. Devin and Kim Schadt will speak on “Expressing Sexual Freedom within Marriage.” For more information, call Susan Urbaniak at (563) 650-3283.

Davenport — The second annual basketball cake auction will take place during the Assumption High School basketball games Friday, Feb. 12, in the school’s cafeteria. Event includes cakes decorated by all boys and girls basketball players from grades nine to 12. Coaches’ cakes and other cakes will be donated  by lower-level future Knight teams, KKD, cheerleaders and various school clubs. Basketballs autographed by both varsity teams will be raffled along with half court shots. Cupcakes will be sold for $1.

Harper — Windthorst Council of the Knights of Columbus, Harper, will celebrate its 100th  anniversary  on Sunday, Feb. 14. Snacks  and drinks will be served beginning at 5 p.m. with  supper at 6 p.m. All members and friends, please plan to attend and share memories of the council’s activities over the past 100 years. In conjunction with this celebration will be the annual appreciation event. RSVP as soon as possible to  rweber@iowatelecom.net.

Iowa City — Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday pancake fundraiser, hosted by the St. Patrick youth group and Knights of Columbus, will be held Feb. 16 in the parish hall. Breakfast will be served from 7-10 a.m. and dinner from 5-8 p.m. Menu for both includes  pancakes, toppings, sausage, kings’ cake, cookies, coffee, juice and milk. Catch some beads, wear a mask and learn more about Mardi Gras. Proceeds support the youth group activities.

Marengo — St. Patrick Parish will host its annual Mardi Gras party Feb. 13 from 4-7 p.m. in the parish center. Menu includes New Orleans-style home cooking and kings’ cake. There will be games for people of all ages. Freewill offerings will be accepted.

Riverside — St. Mary Parish will hold its annual pancake breakfast Feb. 14 from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the parish center. All-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee will be served. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children and free for children younger than 5. Crafts and baked goods also will be sold. Proceeds benefit religious education.
