St. James is the recipient of two recent grants to help make safety and health improvements to the school.

An award of $43,000 was received from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation to help make improvements to the fire alarm system and kitchen. Matching funds were also received from Earthly Blessings and St. James Home and School Association.

St. James students are now being served whole grain breads during lunch and fresh fruits during their morning snacks as a result of a $1,000 grant from Action for Healthy Kids Iowa.  Part of the grant award will also be used to purchase more supplies for physical education.
