The Assumption Knight Players presented “Into the Woods” to three nearly sold-out crowds on the weekend of March 19.

The show, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, unites the fairy tales of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, the Baker and his Wife, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood into one fast-paced, music-filled story. AHS theater director Leslie LaCorte described the show as “comprised of poignant, witty and downright silly lines of dialogue woven into a beautiful tapestry of musical numbers.”

She admits that “the only problem you may have is missing some of the story while being enchanted by the music, or missing some of the music while listening to the lines!” The cast and crew of more than 50 had begun practicing in early January.

According to Assumption President Andy Craig, “The dedication of the cast and crew was evident, and the entertainment value reached across generations.”
