How did you know you were being called to the priesthood?

The example of very devout Catholic parents inspired a faith and prayer life that led to the decision to go to the seminary.

Aside from your ordination Mass, what was your most memorable Mass?

When I was on sabbatical at the University of Notre Dame, the school was celebrating its 150th anniversary.  The Sesquicentennial Mass was awesome.

What is most rewarding about being a priest?

Celebrating sacraments, assisting the return of a fallen-away Catholic to the Lord and to the church, and being present to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

What is most challenging about being a priest?

Issues in the church today; the very secular society and its influence on the lifestyles of the people; administrative expectations.

What is your favorite Scripture passage?

It has to be the Parable of the Loving Father, or, as it’s better known, the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Lk. 15:11-31).

What is your hobby?

Reading, music, some golf.
