Regina’s stage was filled with “The Sound of Music” Feb. 25-28. This classic musical tells the tale of a young woman, Maria, who is sent to be a governess for the seven children of Captain Von Trapp. Throughout her time with the family, she falls in love with the captain and must find a way to escape from the Nazis.

The production starred Hannah Green as Maria, and Eamonn Carroll as Captain Von Trapp. The directors, Angela Howard and Cynthia Hames, along with the entire cast and crew, put on a beautiful performance for the Iowa City and Regina community to see. “It was an honor to work on this fantastic production with Angela Howard,” Hames said.

A lot of time and effort went into making this musical worthwhile. Long nights of rehearsal and many hours of practicing musical numbers paid off in the end. The costumes, which included numerous nun outfits, were created by Annie Rupprecht and Carol Howard.

This outstanding performance will not soon be forgotten. As the Regina Drama Department continues to grow, so does the talent of its students. This classic musical showcased the talent and hard work that the actors and actresses of Regina High School have to offer.
