Book explores priests as spiritual fathers

Facebooktwittermail

I am presently reading the new book by Scott Hahn entitled “Many are Called,” and am enjoying it immensely. It concerns not only the priesthood and our priest as Father but also notes the importance of the father in the family. While both are great in the eyes of God, Mr. Hahn puts the parish priest in true perspective.

“By God’s design and God’s grace, there is no greater provider, no greater breadwinner, than the most ordinary parish priest.” (Page 68)

The father of a family is the breadwinner, but the priest is the spiritual breadwinner of the soul in bringing Jesus, the true bread of life, to us in the holy Eucharist. If there is no Mass there is no life within us. And if there is no priest there is no Mass.

Dear Jesus, bless all the priests in the world. And all those that answered the call to be a priest, I thank you and I rejoice in your vocation. Amen.
