Donations of school supplies sought

Davenport and Bettendorf diocesan schools participate in the First Day Project (school supply) drive every year. The Diocese of Davenport headquarters again is taking donations for school supplies for the project. Suggested items for donation include:  loose-leaf paper, spiral notebooks, colored pencils, pocket folders, composition notebooks, pens, crayons, pencils, erasers, Kleenex, backpacks, scissors, glue sticks, rulers, washable markers, pencil boxes, watercolor paints, dry erase markers and hand sanitizer.

You may drop off items until Aug. 19 at diocesan headquarters, 2706 N. Gaines St., Davenport, during regular business hours and addressed to Virginia Ibarra Trujillo. Other drop-off sites: McDonald’s at 1733 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport, July 30, 10 a.m.–noon; McDonald’s at 5002 Welcome Way, Davenport, July 31, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; or place supplies in or around mailboxes for postal service pick up on July 31.

Or you can send a check payable to First Day Project. Please designate on your check the particular school and district. Mail checks to First Day Project c/o Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, 852 Middle Rd., Suite 100, Bettendorf, IA 52722.
