The following retreats are slated at Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat near Wheatland in July.
• “Tools to Support the Spiritual Direction Conversation” will take place Tuesday, July 20, from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Fee is $15, which includes lunch.
Using the focusing process as the primary tool, participants will explore ways a director can assist directees to listen reverently to their own stories. Participants will use the imagination, memory work, and a developmental understanding of God experiences. The day includes input, discussion, small group work and personal reflection.
The retreat is primarily for spiritual directors but open to anyone who sits with others in a helping relationship.
Presenter is Lucy Abbott Tucker, who has worked at the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago, preparing individuals for the ministry of spiritual direction for over 25 years. She is active in Spiritual Directors International and has been involved in retreats and workshops in Europe and Canada. She has published several articles on the ministry of spiritual direction.

• “Wholeness, Holiness and the Holy Spirit” will take place Saturday, July 31, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Fee is $15, which includes lunch.
Participants will explore ways to be renewed in life as they pour out their life for others. They will find that balance in wholeness and holiness that deepens understanding of who people are in relationship to God and to others. Tending to the “inner soul” is a way to fill spiritual reserves to accomplish much more than people ever thought! Participants may select the activities that best meet their needs.
Target audience is adults who want to take time to replenish their personal spiritual reserves.
Presenter is IlaMae Hanisch, MPS, a lay ecclesial minister in the Roman Catholic Church who has spent 18 years in parish ministry and 13 years with the Diocese of Davenport. She is currently the coordinator for lay ministry formation and adult/family formation in the Diocese of Davenport.
