A former educator in the Diocese of Davenport died July 10. Sister Mary Curoe, (St. Richard), BVM, 88, died at Mount Carmel in Dubuque.

She was born in Bernard and entered the BVM congregation on Sept. 8, 1939. She professed first vows on March 19, 1942, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1947.

In the Davenport Diocese, Sr. Curoe taught at Regina High School in Iowa City from 1971–73. She served as teacher, principal or librarian at schools in Tama, Muscatine, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque and Des Moines in Iowa; as well as schools in Illinois, Missouri, Washington and New York.

Visitation is scheduled from 9–11 a.m. on Thursday, July 15 in the Marian Hall Chapel with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Dubuque.
