Sister Lucille Smith (Angelique), a School Sister of St. Francis, a former organist and teacher in the Diocese of Davenport, died June 29 at St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport, Wis.

A native of Nebraska, she was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis June 13, 1934, and made first profession of vows Aug. 19, 1936, and final (perpetual) vows Aug. 8, 1942.

Sr. Smith lived her religious ministry as a teacher, principal and organist in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

In the Diocese of Davenport she taught and was organist at Ss. Peter & Paul School in Clear Creek from 1942-45, taught at St. James School in St. Paul from 1968-69, and taught at Marquette Primary School in Houghton from 1969-70.

A wake and funeral Mass took place July 2 at St. Joseph Convent with burial at Sisters’ Cemetery in Campbellsport.
