Sr. Regina Megivern, BVM

DUBUQUE  — Sister Regina Megivern, BVM (Verna), a former educator in the Diocese of Davenport, died July 14 at Mount Carmel in Dubuque. She was 84.

She was born Nov. 5, 1925, in Nashua and entered the BVM congregation on Feb. 2, 1944. She professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1946, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1951.

In the Diocese of Davenport, Sr. Megivern taught at St. James in Washington from 1951–53, and at St. Mary in Riverside from 1960–61. She also taught in Illinois, Kansas, Wisconsin and Missouri. She was a superior/principal and also worked in pastoral ministry. She also served as a chaplain in Colorado. For 12 years, Sr. Megivern was a resident/volunteer at the Mount Carmel Motherhouse.

Visitation was scheduled to be held July 21 in the Marian Hall Chapel with her funeral to follow. Burial is to take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Dubuque.
