Cynthia Lynn Orth, 52, of Burlington, died of cancer at 9:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, surrounded by her husband, children, parents and God.

Born June 24, 1958, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Dale Edward and Janette L. Stephenson Wunderlich. On May 6, 1978, she married Stephen Orth at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Burlington.

Cynthia had worked as a secretary at Mediapolis High School and for the last five years as a receptionist at Summer Street Animal Clinic.

She was a 1976 graduate of Mediapolis High School.

She was a member of Ss. John & Paul Catholic Church and was a past 4-H leader. She loved animals, doing yard work, walking and exercising, and was an Indianapolis Colts fan.  She especially loved taking care of her family.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen; one daughter, Stephanie (Jared) Heckart of Danville; one son, Jacob Orth of Burlington; her parents Dale and Janette Wunderlich of Burlington; her three dogs and two cats; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family to receive friends following a 4:30 p.m. Christian wake service until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral Mass of the resurrection for Mrs. Orth will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Anthony Herold as the celebrant.  Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir.  As per Cynthia’s request, cremation will be accorded following the funeral. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Ss. John & Paul Catholic Church and Great River Hospice House.
