Readers should be exposed to different views

I am writing to voice my support for the weekly column by Father Richard McBrien. His articles are well researched and clearly written.

We should not expect that all of the articles on the Opinions Page be to our liking. The purpose of the columns is to provide a variety of viewpoints and I believe the Messenger does a fine job of doing that for its readers.

We readers need to be exposed to various views on the issues of our day if we are to be truly educated in our faith. We may disagree with some of the opinions expressed by a particular writer, but that is not a good reason for trying to eliminate the column altogether.
