Having been blessed with 98 years of life, Alice M. Fall, formerly of Davenport, passed away peacefully at Legacy Pointe Nursing Home, Waukee, Iowa, on Oct. 5, 2010. A celebration of Alice’s life will be held Friday Oct. 8, 2010. Visitation will be Friday at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport,  from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with a Catholic Mass to follow at 1 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 1923 N. Fillmore St., Davenport, celebrated by Msgr. Tom Toale. Following the services, Alice will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.

Edward and Marie DePaepe left Belgium for the USA and settled in Moline, Ill. They gave birth to Alice M. DePaepe on May 30, 1912. Alice lived in Independence and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before moving to Davenport. Alice was united in marriage to Edward B. Fall in 1945 in Independence. He preceded her in death April 25, 1998.

Alice was employed for 16 year by Assumption High School and, prior to that, at Service Rubber in Rock Island, Ill. She will be remembered for her warm smile that would light up the room, love for flowers, gardening, Cubs, family and relations, She especially enjoyed the many family picnics, reunions and get-togethers. She was a devoted member of Holy Family Church and participated in the Altar and Rosary Society. In Alice’s later years, she relocated to the West Des Moines area to be closer to family. She resided at Illahee Hills Retirement Community and Legacy Pointe Nursing Home.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport.

 Surviving Alice is her son Ronald (Susan) Fall, grandchildren Kevin Fall, and Rachel Naba, all of West Des Moines, and Julie (Thatcher) Hinman, Vermont; great grandchildren, Bedale, Inejah, Zemira and Ramez Naba; sisters Clara (Francis) Toale, Independence, Laura Ladehoff, Davenport, and Margaret DeBacker, Rock Island, as well as many nieces & nephews.

Preceding Alice in death were her parents Edward and Marie DePaepe, husband Edward B. Fall, brother and sister-in-law, Frank & Eilene DePaepe, and brothers-in-law Henry Ladehoff and Marcel DeBacker.
