IOWA CITY — The architectural firm that designed St. Patrick Church in Iowa City has earned an award for the building.

Neumann Monson Architects received the 2010 grand prize in the Masonry Institute of Iowa’s Architectural Design Awards.

The three-judge panel of architects from the St. Louis area was impressed with the building, noting “good details; very attractive; good use of salvage brick; harkens me back to my youth when sacramental spaces were built to last.”

St. Patrick Church was dedicated in November 2009 after its former church sustained heavy damage in a 2006 tornado.
