All Saints has a new activity at school this year: Chess Club.

The Chess Club will be meeting twice a month after school. It is open to students in fourth through eighth grades. Students with all levels of chess experience are welcome. George Meister of the Illowa Chess Club in the Quad Cities came to the first meeting and will be there regularly. There was much interest; 22 students came to the first meeting. There will be chess matches within the club and the opportunity for chess tournaments with area schools. Two faculty members, Eileen O’Brien and Amy Kersten, will be working with the club as well.
