Preschool classes focus on socialization

The 3-year-old preschool program is off to a great start. Currently, two different classes meet on alternate days. Nine students are enrolled.

The main focus for students of this age is socialization. For many children, preschool is their first experience away from Mom or Dad. Students are taught how to talk through conflicts with their friends, the expectations for behavior and pre-kindergarten academic skills.

Keokuk Catholic Schools uses Creative Curriculum with the preschool classes. Creative Curriculum uses a “hands-on” approach that allows the students to learn through exploration.

In the near future, the students will be taking a field trip to a local pumpkin patch.
