Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Wanda M. Heim, 80, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. 

Burial will take place in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Mrs. Heim died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 at Trinity at Terrace Park.

Wanda Marie Garrow was born on Feb. 5, 1930 in Davenport, Iowa, a daughter of William and Marie (Miller) Garrow. She was united in marriage to Raymond George Heim on June 17, 1960 in Rock Island, Ill. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1994. 

Ray and Wanda owned and operated Ray and Wanda’s Tap for 23 years. Wanda was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Over the years, Wanda enjoyed the care of her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Greg Garnica, with whom she resided. In her free time, she loved to frequent the riverboats, play cards especially poker, shop, camp, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Blue Grass Volunteer Fire Department, or Trinity Pathway Hospice.

Wanda is survived by her children, Dee Johnson, Davenport; Sheila (Thomas) Walsh, Ottumwa; Pamela (Greg) Garnica, and Raymond (Leslie) Heim, all of Davenport; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Garrow; sisters, Ella Hines and Donna Garrow; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Baby.

In addition to her husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, great-grandchildren, Sarah Johnson and Townzell Nicholson; son-in-law, Marvin Johnson; and siblings: Francis “Mike” Garrow, Joseph Garrow, Alice Gott, and Patty Garrow.
