DAVENPORT — All are welcome to attend an Advent reflection day “Mary, Sign of our Vocation” on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 West Central Park Ave.

Non-CHM members will be asked to pay just $5 to cover lunch. Register with Roxanne by Nov. 29 by calling (563) 323-9466.

Participants will reflect together on the development of Marian doctrine and devotion in the Church from the time of the Fathers of the Church who described Mary as the “New Eve” and agreed that she ought to be recognized as “Theotokos” which we translate as “Mother of God.” Participants will concentrate on the renewal in Marian theology and prayer since the Second Vatican Council, which calls all Catholics to concentrate on Mary’s role as member of the Church and a disciple of Christ.

Leading the day will be Corinne Winter, Ph.D. She has taught theology at St. Ambrose University in Davenport since the fall of 1994, served as chair of the theology department, taught in the Diocese of Davenport’s Ministry Formation Program since its beginnings and teaches at the graduate level in the Master of Pastoral Theology program.
