Rita was born at her parent’s home on the farm in East Pleasant Plain, Iowa on July 14, 1919, a daughter of Frank and Bertha (Fritz) Pacha. At the age of 18, Rita came to Davenport to attend business school. Here she met Harold Day, of Centerville, Iowa and they were wed on July 31, 1937. Their union produced four children.

Rita worked for Palmer College of Chiropractic, J.I. Case Company, Bendix Aviation, and retired from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. After the death of her husband in 1987, Rita made several trips to Medjugorje in honor of our Blessed Mother, and until she could no longer drive, she attended Mass on a daily basis.
