End-of-year giving: planning can maximize tax savings

As 2010 draws to a close, you may wish to assess your giving in relation to your taxes. Gifts must be transferred or postmarked by Dec. 31 to qualify for a tax deduction in 2010.

You may wish to consider giving a more generous gift to your parish, to the Annual Diocesan Appeal or to the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Davenport before the end of the year.

Electronic giving is possible on the diocesan website. Go to www.davenportdiocese.org and click on online giving. This is a convenient way to give from your checking or savings account or with your credit card.

Act now to make certain you have accomplished your charitable goals for this year. Proper planning can result in maximum tax savings as well as helping your favorite charities meet their goals.
