CLINTON — An evening of reflection at The Canticle, home of the Clinton Franciscans, 841 13th Ave. N., will be offered on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 4-8:30 p.m.

This twilight retreat will explore the wisdom of Thomas Merton through excerpts from his writings. With the direction of leader Sister Mary Smith, OSF, participants will discover, as Merton did, that the epiphany of God in time comes at any moment and anywhere.

“Our call,” Sr. Smith said, “is to be awake: to become contemplatives in a world of action. Join us for quiet prayer, insightful presentations and engaging discussion.”

“If you are looking for a space to encounter like-minded seekers of the mystical way,” said Sr. Smith in a recent presentation in Clinton, “come to an evening of quiet prayer, input and group sharing on Merton’s writings. Experience the wisdom and power of contemplative spirituality for building community and impacting change.  We will explore the wisdom of Merton — the man, the mystic, the prophet.”
