ROCK ISLAND, ILL. — The following events are slated at Benet House Retreat Center, 2200 88th Ave. W.:
• A book club will focus on “Same Kind of Different as Me” by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. This is a true story of healing, the restorative power of forgiveness and the life changing power of unconditional love. The club will meet bi-weekly on Thursdays from 9:30-11 a.m. on Feb. 3 and 17, March 10, 24 and 31 and April 14. Fee is $5 per session or $25 for the series.
• “Love Is a Decision” — This annual Valentine program is designed to help couples rekindle their love and commitment. Join other couples for enrichment, reflection, renewal of your marriage commitment and relaxing with a candlelight dessert. The event takes place Friday, Feb. 11, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Fee is a free-will donation. Couples may stay overnight at Benet House for an additional $43.
• “Overview of the Sacraments” — A look at the historical, liturgical and theological meaning of the sacraments along with discussion of contemporary challenges facing the sacramental system of the Church. The session will take place Saturday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon. Fee is $15 plus an optional lunch for $7.
