Davenport — A Silent Saturday, a half-day mini-retreat, will take place at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave., from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 19. The morning will include two periods of Centering Prayer, a silent break, and closing with Lectio Divina.

MEETINGS

Iowa City — There will be a Second and Third Degree Knights of Columbus exemplification at St. Patrick Church, 4330 St. Patrick Drive, in honor of Bishop Martin Amos Feb. 27. Candidates should arrive at 1 p.m., and the exemplification will start at 1:30 p.m. First Degree Knights of Columbus should attend. There will be a First Degree exemplification for all new candidates at St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Hall, 4776 American Legion Road, Iowa City, Feb. 27. The First Degree candidates should be there by 10:30 a.m.; the exemplification will start at 11 a.m. Please call for reservations. Fourth Degree exemplification will take place during the Iowa Knights of Columbus convention in Coralville at the Marriott April 8 at 1 p.m. with Bishop Amos.

RETREATS

Davenport — The Christian Service Committee of Our Lady of Victory Parish is sponsoring an Adults with Disabilities Renewal Day Saturday, Feb. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the parish center, 4105 N. Division Street. The day’s theme is “God Made the World.” The day will be filled with talks, discussions and crafts. If you are interested in volunteering or need information, call Karen at (563) 386-3781.

Fairfield — St. Mary Parish will host a festive music concert on Friday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. with the renowned composer and liturgical music expert David Haas and his fellow composer Lori True. On Saturday, Feb. 19, Haas and True will be leading a workshop from 9:30 a.m.-2.30 p.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. with hospitality. Friday’s concert will take place in the worship space of St. Mary’s, 3100 W. Madison Ave., Fairfield. In lieu of tickets, there will be a free-will offering. Pre-registration to the Saturday workshop is not required, but helpful. Iowa City — “Growing in Faith Through Difficult Times,” a day of reflection with Sister Joyce Rupp, OSM, will take place Saturday, Feb. 26 at St. Patrick Parish Center, 4330 St. Patrick Drive. Registration begins at 9 a.m.; the retreat is slated for 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be served. Keota — Holy Trinity Parish’s Altar & Rosary Society is sponsoring a pre-Lenten evening of reflection. Mass will be at the church at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 2. Mass will be followed by a reflection entitled “What Can I Do to Make Lent More Meaningful?” at the parish hall from 7-8:30 p.m. The reflection will be led by Carol Kaalberg, parish life administrator of St. Mary parishes in Lone Tree and Nichols and St. Joseph Parish in Hills; and Sister Agnes Giblin, BVM, pastoral associate at St. Mary’s, Iowa City. Men, women and youth are invited from all surrounding parishes.

Harper — Holy Trinity Parish in Keota is sponsoring an adults-only Mardi Gras celebration on Friday, March 4. It will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Harper from 7 p.m. to midnight. There will be food, beverages, music, dancing and casino games.

Melcher — A Bunco party and beef burger supper will take place Saturday, Feb. 19, after Mass at Sacred Heart Parish. The Altar & Rosary Society will serve beef burgers, chips, dessert and a drink for a free-will offering.  At 6:30 p.m., the Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Bunco party for $5 per person. Prizes will be given out.

Preston — The Altar & Rosary Society of Ss. Mary & Joseph Parish of Sugar Creek/Bryant will hold an omelet and pancake breakfast, bake sale and silent auction Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Preston Town Hall. Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. For tickets, call Elaine Burken at (563) 689-3105.
