Youths to host Mardi Gras party in Oxford

OXFORD — The youth group of St. Mary Parish in Oxford and St. Peter Parish in Cosgrove will present a Mardi Gras party Saturday, March 5, at St. Mary’s Auditorium, 133 E. Main St., Oxford. Schedule follows:

4 p.m.: Mass, upstairs at St. Mary’s Auditorium

5-7 p.m.: Dinner of authentic New Orleans style jambalaya, baked steak and mashed potatoes and gravy or kids’ chicken tenders. Cost is $10 for adults, $7 for seventh to 12th-graders, $5 for students in kindergarten to sixth grade, and free for children 4 and younger.

6:30 p.m.: Euchre tournament, $10 per person. Contact Bob Linnenbrink at (319) 930-2953 to register. Walk-ins are welcome; reservations are appreciated. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places. Cost is $10 per child for children’s Euchre and games.

There also will be a coloring contest; sheets are available at St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s Cosgrove or the Depot in Oxford.

A food and cash bar is available until 9 p.m.

A raffle will offer a $1,000 prize, two $500 prizes and 10 $50 prizes. One hundred $50 tickets will be sold. To buy tickets, call Katie Villhauer at (319) 828-4114.

All proceeds will support parish youths as they prepare to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
