Davenport — A healing Mass will be celebrated March 8 at 1 p.m. at Eagles’ Wings Retreat Center, 5816 Telegraph Road.

MEETINGS

Iowa City — Men of the Diocese of Davenport are called to a conference on prayer March 26 at St. Patrick Church. “Prayer For Life” features speaker Father Francis Hoffman (a.k.a. Father Rocky). Fr. Rocky is the executive director of Relevant Radio. Father Rudolph Juarez, pastor of St. Patrick Parish, will challenge men to pray for the grace to provide spiritual leadership. James Becker is a second-year Fellowship of Catholic University Students missionary at the University of Wisconsin. He will offer his insights on the importance of prayer as young people discern their life’s work. The conference opens with Mass at 7 a.m., followed by adoration and the rosary. Fr. Rocky will begin his presentation at 9 a.m. A light breakfast and sack lunch are included in the $25 registration fee. Davenport — A Theology on Tap event for young adults will take place March 10 at 7 p.m. at Phil & Larry’s Saloon. Msgr. Bob Gruss will speak on “What’s the Minimum I Can Do and Still be Catholic?”

Davenport — A “Lesson with Lunch” will take place March 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Eagles’ Wings Retreat Center, 5816 Telegraph Road. Participants will watch John Paul Jackson on TV as he shares his “Throne Room experience” and teaches on the “Mystery of Movement.”  They will learn about the interaction of motion, sound, light, color and energy in heaven and how worship on earth is meant to reflect that of heaven. Bring a sack lunch. Freewill offerings will be taken.

Davenport — A Spaghetti Supper Benefit for All Saints Catholic School’s production of “Bugsy Malone, Jr.” will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, in the All Saints World Café, 1926 Marquette St., Davenport. Advance ticket prices are $5 per adult, $3 for a child age 5-10 and $20 for a family of four or more. Tickets at the door are $7 per adult, $5 for a child ages 5–10. Tickets will be sold after Mass March 5-6 and through the school office by calling (563) 324-3205. The musical “Bugsy Malone, Jr.” will be presented on April 15, 16, and 17 at the Assumption High School Auditorium in Davenport.

Davenport — A trivia night will take place at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish Center March 12 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Cost is $10 per person, teams of 8. Bring your own snacks. Call Tom Bribriesco to make a reservation: (563) 326-3442.

Fairfield — Jefferson County Right to Life will hold a soup luncheon at St. Mary Catholic Church Hall March 13 after 10 a.m. Mass, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Father Stephen Page will make several homemade soups. Desserts will also be served.  A freewill offering will be taken.

Harper — Holy Trinity Parish in Keota is sponsoring an adults-only Mardi Gras celebration on Friday, March 4. It will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Harper from 7 p.m. to midnight. There will be food, beverages, music, dancing and casino games.

Lone Tree — St. Mary parishes of Lone Tree and Nichols will hold a pancake breakfast with sausage, ham and eggs March 13 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lone Tree American Legion. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger.

Marengo – St. Patrick Parish will host its annual family-oriented Mardi Gras Party on Sunday, March 6 from 4-7 p.m. Gumbo, red beans and rice, crawfish etouffee, chicken and dumplings and king’s cake will be served. There will be bingo and carnival games. Freewill offerings will benefit the parish’s religious education program.

Mount Pleasant – Ladies of Charity of St. Alphonsus Parish is organizing a bus trip to the National Mississippi Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque March 22 to view the “Women and Spirit: Catholic Sisters in America” exhibit. After leaving the museum the bus will stop at the basilica in Dyersville. Cost of the trip is $35 and includes the bus and admittance to the museum. Registration deadline is March 3. Oxford — The youth group of St. Mary Parish in Oxford and St. Peter Parish in Cosgrove will present a Mardi Gras party Saturday, March 5, at St. Mary’s Auditorium, 133 E. Main St., Oxford. The evening begins with Mass at 4 p.m. and includes dinner, a Euchre tournament, children’s games, a coloring contest, a food and cash bar and a rafffle. To buy a $50 raffle ticket, call Katie Villhauer at (319) 828-4114. All proceeds will support parish youths as they prepare to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference.

WORKSHOPS

Davenport — A daylong workshop on “Deepening Appreciation of Eucharist through the Roman Missal” with presenter Kathy Coffey will be held March 12 at the Humility of Mary Center. Registration starts at 8:45 a.m. with the presentation scheduled from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the center’s Magnificat Chapel. There is no charge, and lunch is included.
