DUBUQUE – Sister Katherine Ann Beckman, BVM, 86, who taught in the Davenport Diocese, died April 13 at Marian Hall. 

She was born in Burlington on Jan. 7, 1925, to Leonard and Mary (Haugh) Beckman and entered the Sisters of Charity, BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1945, from St. Mary Parish, Dodgeville. She professed first vows on March 19, 1948, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1953.

In the diocese of Davenport, Sr. Beckman taught elementary school at St. Mathias in Muscatine (1960–65) and St. Mary in Iowa City (1965–68). In Illinois, she taught in Chicago, Cicero and Rock Island. She served on the staff at Clarke College in Dubuque. In retirement, she volunteered at Clarke College; in Burlington, Iowa; and in Quito, Ecuador.

Funeral liturgy was to be celebrated April 20 in the Marian Hall Chapel followed by burial in Mount Carmel cemetery.
