Sister Mary Kathleen Krebsbach, CHM, 100, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center, Johnston.

On Monday, April 18 a rosary is at 4:00, vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Bishop Drumm Our Lady of Peace Chapel, Johnston. Visitation at the Humility of Mary Center, Magnificat Chapel, 820 W. Central Park Ave. in Davenport is Tuesday, April 19; Rosary at 4:00 and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass is Wednesday, April 20, 11:00 a.m. in Magnificat Chapel. Burial follows in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Genevieve Elizabeth Krebsbach was born on August 29, 1910 in Lawrence, Nebraska to Joseph and Mary Grabenschroer Krebsbach. On December 31, 1931 she entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary, professing vows in 1934.

She served at the Christ Child Home in Des Moines from 1950 to 1965. In Davenport, she provided domestic services at the Bishop’s House for five years, and engaged in food service at convents in Ottumwa and Marshalltown. At Ottumwa Heights she contributed to domestic services and began her retirement.  In 1982, she moved with the CHM community to the Humility of Mary Center in Davenport. For more than a decade she enjoyed sewing and craft work, creating many beautiful quilts. In 2004 she moved to Bishop Drumm Retirement Center where she resided until her death.

Sister Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wilfred, Victor, Ralph and George, her sisters Josephine Grueb, Stephane Bolte, Irene Himmelberg and Helena Oye. She is survived by her sister Mary Herbek of Hastings, NE, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as sisters and associates of her religious community.
