Sr. Isabella Toher, BVM

Sister Isabella Toher, BVM, an educator, administrator and pastoral minister, died April 17 at Marian Hall in Dubuque. She was 88.

A native of Davenport, she was born Jan. 1, 1923, and entered the Sisters of Charity, BVM congregation on Sept. 8, 1941, from St. Mary Parish in Davenport. She professed first vows on March 19, 1944, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1949.

In the Diocese of Davenport, Sr. Toher ministered as a retired volunteer in parish ministry at St. Anthony Church in Davenport from 1989–2001. She taught in Wisconsin, Missouri, Califorina and Illinois. She also did pastoral ministry in Illinois and in Dubuque.

Sr. Toher’s visitation and funeral were scheduled for April 20 in the Marian Hall Chapel. Burial is at Mount Carmel cemetery.
